The 12oz 222x jacket provides the ideal solution. It's soft and suitable for year-round wear. Crafted from lightweight double black selvedge denim woven by Kuroki Mills, this 3sixteen jacket achieves a remarkable black-grey color through its washing process, avoiding the artificial appearance found in many other stonewashed denim jackets.
Typically, distressing on wear points seen on jeans and jackets doesn't align with a wearer's body movement, resulting in an unnatural high contrast without depth. Therefore, when 3sixteen set out to develop the wash treatment for this jacket, techniques like sanding, laser distressing, and harsh chemicals were ruled out. Instead, the 3sixteen team aimed to preserve and accentuate the fabric's character, emphasizing the beautiful vertical streaking characteristic of their aging denim.
Furthermore, 3sixteen sought to create an effect that, quite honestly, would be difficult to achieve through natural wear. Achieving the exhibited color would require the owner to wash their jacket weekly, which is both labor-intensive and environmentally wasteful. To overcome this, 3sixteen collaborated with a Los Angeles wash house to create a multi-stage process, including a pumice stone wash, light bleach, and softeners, resulting in the perfect shade of grey.
The cut offers a slight slim fit, adding a modern touch to its classic inspiration. Most people find it comfortable to go one size up in 3sixteen denim jackets compared to their 3sixteen shirts.
